    Strength Training

Strength training is an important part of any exercise plan. Even if getting strong and lifting weights isn’t your motivation for training, building an element of body strength is important for the day to day health of your body. Two examples of this are:

1.Increased bone density Regular weight-bearing exercise helps to maintain and build up bone mass, making your bones stronger. Women are more prone to osteoporosis and bone fractures as they get older. Strength training is a great way of protecting against these risks.

2.Injury Prevention Muscular imbalances or weaknesses are a common cause of injury. Increased strength means the body is more equipped to withstand any impacts through sport or every day accidents. It is not a problem if you have never tried strength training before. Get in touch so we can go through basic form and technique to help you feel confident and safe whilst using weights.

    Functional Movement

Isolating specific muscles on weights machines can have its benefits, but to have the freedom to move our bodies the way we want, we need to train them to move in that way. These goals are individual. For some this may involve plyometric training to increase their maximum box jump. For others it may be training their shoulder joint to ease pain and improve mobility with the aim of opening the top cupboard in the kitchen pain free. Both of these require functional training, that mimics the movement you wish to perform. Wilson Fitness is here to help you achieve this to the best of your ability..
