    • KETTLE BELLS: Kettlebells are becoming more and more popular across the UK and here are some of the reasons why:

    Benefits of exercising with Kettlebells

    - Great for the EPOC effect (Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen consumption). Amongst other things, the EPOC effect elevates metabolism which is of benefit to anyone wishing to reduce body fat, as you continue to burn energy for an extended period after you finish training – sometimes up to 48 hours!

    - Increases functional strength, endurance and flexibility to your major muscle groups such as the glutes, hamstrings, quads, back and core.

    - Strengthens all of the stabiliser muscles surrounding your joints, making it a fantastic pre-habilitation and rehabilitation tool for the lower back, knees and shoulders

    - Kettlebell training is an excellent carry over to general activity and sports as it is very good for mastering techniques, positions and postures

Sound good? Well, only if the kettlebell training is implemented correctly. Improper technique can aggravate old injuries or create new ones, so it important to make sure you are practicing the correct technique.

“Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.” Vince Lombardi

    • How much attention: have you put into your core stability training lately?

A strong and stable core will allow your body to perform to the best of its ability. It provides the foundation for movement and helps improve results and prevent injuries. This will help you increase your maximum back squat weight, your ability to plank, and protect against back strains in every day lifting and moving. Other areas that core stability training improves:

    - Posture

    - Injury prevention

    - Agility

    - Balance and co-ordination

    - Power and speed
